Churches on Mission – RockPointe Church

Every mission trip week throughout the summer always has a uniqueness about it, and that was certainly the case with the team from RockPointe Church (RPC) this last week. In addition to RPC coming to Acuña to bless IB Estrella DE Belen with a special science and creativity focused Vacation Bible School, they also engaged in immigrant outreach at the Val Verde Border Humanitarian Coalition (VVBHC), community service, and evangelism.

During the week the team watched several videos from the Something Needs to Change Bible Study from David Platt. As part of their discussion about God’s heart to reach the nations a theme for the week emerged focused on just saying YES to God. Just a few of those examples during the week of the team saying yes included:

  • Blessing Granny B, the sweet 86-year-old missionary who runs Su Casa Mission House, with some beautiful landscaping for her yard.
  • Prepping LOTS of slime for the Bible lesson that was shared with the kids this evening.
  • Making over several hundred sack lunches to distribute at the VBS and the VVBHC.
  • Loving, teaching, and ministering to 107 VBS participants! Half of the attendees are brand new and do not attend church!
  • Praying and sharing the gospel with migrants coming through the Val Verde Border Humanitarian Coalition.
  • Distributing food crates in the Noblasi neighborhood.

This is how Traci said, “Yes,” today while working at the Coalition:

“We met with many brothers & sisters in Christ while serving at the coalition. I felt led to speak to a group of 5 women traveling from Cuba to Kentucky. 2 of them – Ana & Natalia – were sisters by marriage, traveling to join their husband and brother. They spoke a little English and I asked if I could pray for their journey. They both shared that they had Christ in the heart and were Christians. We prayed and cried together as they shared the hardships of their 4 month journey to get to Del Rio, TX. They thanked us for being there and our kindness and ministry. We were there to serve them, but after talking with them and hearing their story I felt like I was the one who received a gift. Praise God for His Goodness and using every opportunity to strengthen his church and bring his people together.”

There is much more that can be said about the week, and the exciting developments God solidified in our hearts last week. As we praise God for all He’s done, we want you to hear a couple of the testimonies from the team themselves. Here’s what the folks at RPC had to say about their experience with us:

“Seeing God reunite immigrant families and bring hope to people who were hopeless was very special.”

“All of David Platt’s lessons were a blessing to our team and we saw the physical and spiritual needs met with the kids at Estrella de Belen.”

Pedro Baltazar Munoz along with our partners at Estrella de Belen were instrumental in sharing the Gospel at the VBS and together the team led several people to faith in Christ! Praise God!

Another way this week was unique for us was how God brought together much of our team together to meet and plan about the exciting future with Young Living Stones! Not only did our leadership team get to meet together, but we were also joined by our Tekton Missions team.

We want to give a special thank you to the RockPointe Church for sending this team to help us as we seek to continue impacting generations for Christ. We mean it when we say that without support from churches like you, we simply couldn’t minister the same.

We appreciate your continued prayers and support as God continues to mold us for His plan and purpose, from Del Rio/Acuña to the nations!
